Vision:

  • Advancement and dissemination of sociological knowledge for upholding values such as democracy, equality, social justice and inclusiveness required for just and humane society.

Mission:

  • The mission of the Department of Sociology is to promote understanding of Social life through teaching.
  • To inculcate goals and values stated in the constitution of India among the students with the knowledge of education

Goals:

  • Studying the general principles and pillars of social life.
  • Studying the patterns of human and social behaviour and their effects on the individual and society.
  • The study and analysis of parts of social construction is a detailed study.
  • This is because all other political, economic and educational institutions are affected by the prevailing social order.
  • Knowledge of the laws of social transformation, which are aimed at studying the bases and rules that society must follow to make a qualitative leap in the case of society.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of the various social problems experienced by society and the development of various plans to address them.
  • To highlight the correct social concepts and to correct misconceptions related to social life.
  • Laying the foundations of an ideal society.
  • Introducing various social institutions that serve the community.
  • Explain the concept of social unity and encourage society to achieve this concept.

Objectives:

  • To teach students the concepts, theories, and methods of the behavioral and social services.
  •  To introduce students to the basic social processes of society, social institutions and patterns of social behavior.
  •  To train students to understand and to interpret objectively the role of social processes, social institutions and social interactions in their lives.
  •  To enable students to cope effectively with the socio-cultural and interpersonal processes of a constantly changing complex society.
  • To train students for positions in criminal justice, gerontology, social science and social welfare.
  •  To prepare students for graduate study.
  •  To strengthen the marketable expertise in quantitative analysis and computer applications in advertising, demography, marketing and the social sciences.
