DR. SRIKANT MOHAPATRA, OSD, ODISHA STATE OPEN UNIVERSITY (OSOU)

Dr. Srikant Mohapatra had served at IGNOU headquarters as the Director, Regional Services Division (RSD) during 2012-15 and Registrar, Student Evaluation Division (2005-09 & 2014-15). He had also assumed additional charge as Director (Defense Unit), Head of the Community College Unit and Convergence Unit of IGNOU. He has also served as the Controller of Examination and Registrar of Sikkim Central University, Gangtok (2009-10).

Dr. Mohapatra did his MA (Political Science) from Utkal University, M. Phil and Ph. D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi in international politics with specialization in South Asian Studies. He has taught political science and international politics for ten years in both under-graduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) classes in various State Government funded autonomous colleges in the State of Odisha (1987- 1996).

Dr. Mohapatra has got wide experience in the field of general administration, student support and evaluation under distance education system. He has worked for five years each as Regional Director of IGNOU for Bihar and Odisha and two years as Senior Regional Director of IGNOU in Gujarat. In the year 2004 he was awarded IGNOU gold medal for providing the best services to the students by the former President of India, late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

In the field of evaluation of student performance through continuous evaluation and End Semester Examination, he has handled one of the largest examination systems under higher education system anywhere in the world. As Director (RSD) he had managed 67 Regional Centres and 3000 Study Centres of IGNOU established in every part of the country.

Dr. Mohapatra has served as member of statutory Bodies like Board of Management, Academic Council, Planning Board and Research Council.

Dr. Mohapatra has widely travelled in India and abroad to participate in seminars and workshops. He has visited the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
